Terms of Service
These terms govern your purchase of goods from Qi Pottery, the studio of ceramicist Kim Whye Kee, based in Singapore. By placing an order you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, write to us before you order and we’ll explain it plainly.
Last updated 5 August 2026
1. Who you are buying from
Qi Pottery is a ceramics studio in Singapore producing handmade teaware and curating tea. Orders, questions and disputes are handled directly by the studio at qipottery@gmail.com or WhatsApp +65 9661 6524.
2. The nature of handmade goods
Every piece is thrown, glazed and fired by hand. Variation in colour, glaze movement, surface texture and dimensions is inherent to the work and is not a defect. Listed dimensions and weights are indicative; actual pieces may differ slightly.
Product photographs are taken as faithfully as we can manage, but screens render colour differently. Slight differences between the photograph and the piece you receive are normal.
3. Orders, pricing and payment
Prices are shown in Singapore Dollars (SGD) unless you switch currency, in which case the converted figure is indicative and the charge is settled in SGD. Prices may change at any time, but changes do not affect orders already placed.
Payment is processed by our commerce provider, SureCart, and its payment partners. We never see or store your full card details. An order is confirmed only once payment is authorised. We may decline or cancel an order — for example where stock is no longer available or where we suspect fraud — and will refund you in full if we do.
Because pieces are made in very small numbers, stock shown online can occasionally be out of date. If we cannot fulfil what you ordered we will contact you and refund in full.
4. Processing and shipping
Processing: typically 1–3 business days after your order is received.
Transit: typically 2–4 business days to major countries and cities.
Shipping is charged by destination zone:
- Zone 1 — Malaysia: SGD 20
- Zone 2 — Brunei, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, South Korea, Macau SAR, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam: SGD 38
- Zone 3 — China, Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea: SGD 48
- Zone 4 — the EU and EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and the United States: SGD 88
These times are estimates, not guarantees. Customs inspection, courier backlogs and weather can delay a parcel beyond our control. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery by the courier.
5. Import duties and taxes
Goods shipped from Singapore may attract customs duty or consumption tax in the destination country. Such duties and taxes are the purchaser’s or receiver’s responsibility. Qi Pottery does not collect any taxes or duties at the point of sale, and shipping charges do not include them.
Where duties apply, couriers will normally collect them before delivery. Rules change frequently — please check with your local customs authority for current rates. Refused or unclaimed parcels that are returned to us because duties were not paid are not eligible for a refund of shipping.
6. Damage in transit
All teaware is individually inspected before shipping. If damage occurs in transit, contact us within 48 hours of receiving your item, with photographs of the piece and the packaging. Because our pieces are made in limited numbers, a full refund will be issued for any damaged item.
7. Returns, replacements and refunds
We will gladly replace or refund an item where:
- the item received differs from what was ordered; or
- the item received is defective or damaged.
We are unable to refund or exchange orders where a customer changes their mind, or for any other personal or subjective reason. Refunds are issued to the original payment method; your bank or card issuer determines how quickly the funds appear.
Consumers in some jurisdictions have statutory rights that cannot be excluded by these terms. Nothing here limits those rights.
8. Cancellations
Orders can be cancelled up until the point they are shipped. Once a package has been shipped it cannot be retrieved and ownership rights transfer to the purchaser. To cancel, contact us as quickly as you can at qipottery@gmail.com or WhatsApp +65 9661 6524.
9. Care and use
Care guidance is offered in good faith on our Care Instructions page. Handmade ceramics are fragile. We are not liable for damage arising from thermal shock, dishwasher or microwave use, drops, or use other than as intended.
10. Intellectual property
All images, text, forms and designs on this site are the property of Qi Pottery and Kim Whye Kee. You may not reproduce, distribute or use them commercially without written permission. Purchasing a piece transfers ownership of the object only, not of any copyright or reproduction right in the work.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount you paid for the goods concerned. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction, save that consumers may also bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence where local law grants that right.
13. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here at the time you place your order. Questions about anything above: qipottery@gmail.com or WhatsApp +65 9661 6524.
