“Repent, rebuild, repay.”
“Regret, reconstruct, reimburse.”
KIM WHYE KEE (b. 1979) spent a decade of his early life behind bars. During the final months of his incarceration, he stumbled upon pottery, which ignited his passion and led him to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (with Honours) from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2013.
In 2015, Whye Kee resolved to refine his skills and apprenticed under master potter Chua Soo Khim from Sam Mui Kuang, where he reacquainted himself with the fundamental art of pottery throwing.
In 2016, Whye Kee established Qi Pottery with a focus on crafting exquisite tea ware. Over the years, his interactions with tea enthusiasts and experts shaped his understanding of the intricate qualities that constitute a superior brew. Armed with this acquired wisdom, he thoughtfully fashions each piece of tea ware, aspiring for everyone to savour a delightful pour.
